How does this site work?

The nitty-gritty of how this site, in case you want to achieve something similar. Also see my obsidian-digital-garden cheat sheet.

Short version

Obsidian + Dataview → Digital Garden plugin → GitHub → Vercel → 11ty site

Why Digital Garden plugin?

• Dataview support.
• Better support for custom themes.
• 11ty under the box, allowing me complete customisation.

Flaws:

• Rather poor PageSpeed results.
• Tied to GitHub, no alternative git provider supported.

Why not Obsidian Publish?

I gave it a shot, but it didn't work out:

• No Dataview support.
• Additional subscription ($6/month with my NGO discount) that I'd have to pay in perpetuity for my website to remain up.
• While extensible, not as extensible as having a full 11ty site to customise.
