Twitter's algorithm
I guess something good came out of Twitter's change in ownership.
Positive factors
- Like → 30x boost
- Retweet → 20x boost
- Reply → 1x boost
- Image/video added → 2x boost
- Twitter Blue → 2-4x boost (2x ingroup, 4x outside of it)
- New follower from seeing one of your tweets → 4x boost
- Tweet about some topic that is trending → 1.1x boost
- Your follower staying on a tweet for longer than 2 mins
- Replying to a reply
Negative factors
- Follows-to-followers ratio. Following a lot of people without having a lot of followers.
- Outbound links to non-news/media sites.
- Including multiple hashtags in a tweet.
- Mutes, blocks, unfollows, spam reports, abuse reports, "show less often".
- Posting stuff outside of topics you usually tweet about.
- Posting in a language your followers don't understand.
- Misspelled words are considered an "unknown language" and will have a minimum negative impact.
- Interacting with other low-quality accounts.
